Handymax swap

In December we have taken under full management another handymax from our Bahamas registered clients: we welcome to our fleet M/V Regina Oldendorff, a 2006 Japan built bulk carrier, Bahamas flag, classed with ABS.

Regina Oldendorff  just came to replace a similar bulk carrier leaving our fleet because of sale to other shipowners.


Faculty of Maritime Studies MoU

We are pleased to announce the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka (Croatia), establishing a close co-operation for the mutual benefit and improvement of employment opportunities.

The MoU foresees that SeaFlag Shipmanagement will recruit cadets from Rijeka Faculty of Maritime Studies top class graduates, contributing to expanding their nautical education and offering a comprehensive career development programme.

Each party involved plays an active role in cadet training. Rijeka Faculty of Maritime Studies ashore training centres and SeaFlag’s own officers onboard managed vessels, aim to improve skills, education and the experience of our recruits in becoming the future’s officers, through a jointly developed training package, during the cadet’s attendance at maritime academy and seagoing service.

In 2013, we recruited about 30 cadets of different European and Asian nationalities, ten of which to date have been promoted to officer.

We train cadets with a focus on safety, security and a respect of the marine environment, providing mentoring and career guidance according to industry’s best practices, a well-trained crew is crucial for the successful operation of any ship.

Handy bulker follow-up

On 20 February 2014, the M/V AEC Diligence was taken under our safety, technical and crew management, as a follow-up of a similar vessel which joined our managed fleet in 2013.

The vessel is a 32,260 dwt second hand geared bulk carrier, 2002 built in Japan. Handysize bulkers are definitely popular among our clients during this period.


First taking over of 2014

A fresh start for 2014; on 8 January, the M/V Jozica was taken under full management. This 1997 built geared handy bulk carrier is registered under Malta flag and classed with KR.
