USCG QUALSHIP 21 awards to SeaQuest
3rd Apr 2019
We are pleased to announce the USCG QUALSHIP 21 award to five bulk carriers in SeaQuest managed fleet and our Rijeka management centre.
Less than 20% of all foreign-flagged vessels that operate in the United States meet the strict requirement of the QUALSHIP 21 program!
QUALSHIP 21 is the “quality shipping for the 21st century” initiative implemented by the United States Coast Guard since 2001 to recognize the well-run vessels operating at a higher-quality and reward their commitment to safety and quality.
To be qualified for QUALSHIP21 a vessel has to meet strict eligibility criteria and successfully complete the Port State Control Safety and Environmental Protection Compliance exams.
The qualified vessels will benefit of 3 years of limited Port state Control oversight, while the annual exams of these vessels will be eliminated (and replaced with biennial exams).
Furthermore, well-run vessels have less chances to incur in incidents or breakdowns, i.e. have less repair & maintenance costs and off-hires.
The vessels receiving the award are AEC ABILITY II, AEC DILIGENCE, ST GEORGE, ST PAUL and ST PINOT.
Goran Zivkovic, md of SeaQuest management centre in Rijeka, commented: "We are proud of this award, an indisputable evidence that we provide truly effective ship management services, resulting in reduced costs and improved operational performance, with absolute regard to safety and marine environment.”
